Visit the Sunderbans in West Bengal, North India

The Sundarbans is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located at the estuary of the river Ganges, about 100 km from Kolkata. It got its name from one of the mangrove plants known as Sundari (Heritiera Minor). Sundarbans are a part of the world's largest delta, formed by the mighty rivers Ganga, Brahmaputra and Meghna.
The Sundarbans is criss-crossed by hundreds of creeks and tributaries. It is one of the most attractive and alluring places remaining on earth, a truly undiscovered paradise. It spans a vast area covering 4264 sq. km in India alone. It is the largest Tiger Reserve and National Park in India, as well as being the largest mangrove eco-system of the world. It is home to one of India's most iconic wildlife species - the Royal Bengal Tiger.
The interconnected network of waterways makes almost every nook and corner of the forest accessible by boats or rafts making it one of the most attractive and alluring places on earth and an undiscovered paradise.


Sample Itinerary - Magical Sunderbans – 2022
22 October - arrive at Kolkata airport, pick up and relax in hotel
23 October - after breakfast we are visiting the highlights of Kolkata - Howra Bridge, Victoria Memorial, Kali Ghat Temple, local bazaars
24 October - after breakfast we are travelling to the Sunderbans - journey accross local villages. Our final part of the journey will be by boat - we settle in our resort / camp
25 to 27 October - we travel through the region, via boat and jeep, visiting the main location with local wildlife reservations, and hoping to spot one of the inhabitants, the Royal Bengal Tiger
28 October - we take a day off to savour the locality in total immersion in nature
29 October - after breakfast, we travel back to Kolkata, settle in our hotel
30 October - a day for visiting the bazaaars of the town and do some shopping
31 October - we travel to the airport to catch our flight back
