Ranthambore is the realm of the Royal Bengal Tiger, and thousands of tourists visit here for a glimpse of this ruler of Ranthambore. However, the jungle is also inhabited by leopards, monitor lizards, sloth bear, jackal, fishing cat, nilgai, desert fox, and many more mammals. You may also see pythons on the tall trees and crocodiles sunning on the lake banks. The water bodies in the park are flocked by a variety of birds from serpent eagles & vultures to sandpiper and kingfishers who interrupt the silence of the jungle with their whistles & calls.

An ancient citadel, now in ruins, Ranthambore Fort stands in the middle of the park and is home to many myths and legends. Climbing up to the ramparts is quite tiring but equally rewarding as the view from there is awe-inspiring.
