National parks like Eravikulam and Periyar, plus Wayanad and other sanctuaries, are home among others, to elephants, langur monkeys and tigers.

Kerala

Kerala ancient culture and traditions, coupled with its varied demographics and landscapes, have made it one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. National Geographic’s Traveller magazine names Kerala as one of the “ten paradises of the world” and “50 must see destinations of a lifetime”. It has been named also as “One of the 100 great trips for the 21st century”. Its most popular tourist attractions are beaches, backwaters and hill stations. Ayurvedic tourism, wildlife sanctuaries and bird-watching are very popular activities.

The “backwaters” are an extensive network of interlocking rivers (41 west-flowing rivers), lakes, and canals that center around Alleppey and Kumarakom, Lake Vembanad and Ashtamudi Lake

ITINERARY EXPERIENCE KERALA SOUTH INDIA TRIP – 2026
JANUARY 9: leave from your departure airport / Dublin airport

JANUARY 10: Arrive at Kochi airport at approx 9am*, we will pick you up with our mini-bus and drive to the backwaters of South of Kochi (approx 1.5 hours) - relax in our Heritage Lake Hotel Resort, where is possible to book ayurveda treatments (optional) and private boating (optional)

JANUARY 11: After breakfast, we visit Fort Kochi - its highlights are the Chinese Fishing Nets & Harbor, the Dutch Palace, the Synagogue, St Francis Church, the Santa Cruz Basilica and Fort Kochi architecture of Portuguese influence. Sunset cruise back at our Lake Resort. Optional Ayurveda treatments available to book at arrival, within the resort

JANUARY 12: after breakfast we drive to our beach resort in the fishermen locality of Mararikulam (approx 1 hour) - settle in our beach resort. Option of Ayurvedic treatments within the resort, visit to local temples and churches. Stroll on the beach at Marari during its magical sunset, after a dip in the warm Ocean waters. Optional Ayurveda treatments available to book at arrival.

JANUARY 13 - 14 : today we visit the nearby shopping town of Alleppey, visiting also the local temples. Optional Vedic Astrologer readings – rest of the day at leisure, enjoying Marari Beach and its stunning sunset.

JANUARY 15: at around 9.30am we drive to Alleppey to board our houseboat for a day trip on the backwaters of Lake Vembanad. Lunch and snacks are served on the boat. We arrive at our Lake Resort in Kumarakom at approx 4pm, disembark directly from the jetty of the Resort, in time to catch another romantic sunset on the Lake. Optional Ayurveda treatments available to book at arrival.

JANUARY 16: Start the day on an early morning stroll among paddy fields, listening to the temple calls and bird songs, birds spotting along the canals. Today we will visit one local temple in Kottayam. Optional boat rides available to book at the hotel.

JANUARY 17: after breakfast we travel to the riverside Resort in the forest area of Athirapally (approx 2.5 hours+) on the Chalakkudy River - relax and enjoy the thoroughly immersion in nature.

JANUARY 18: We visit the Kodanad Elephant & Wildlife EcoCenter (drive approx 1.5 hours) and the majestic Athirapally Waterfalls (15min), known as the "Niagara of India" . Back at the hotel, have a dip in the fresh waters of the Chalakkudy River at sunset. Ayurveda treatments are available to be booked at the resort (optional).

JANUARY 19: we drive to the airport (approx 1h15min) to catch the return flight
